is anybody else disturbed by the fact that there’s no opposition media in the united states?

i mean, just try to find a major daily that supports hezbollah or iran or cuba over the american government, or that says nato forces should lose in afghanistan… there aren’t any. it turns out that there’s a law that if you say those things then you can be sent to jail or even executed. they say capitalism is meant to provide for the people, but at what cost??? i know there are a lot of people who support capitalism, but do you really think it is worth the price of our freedoms?

“Nonaligned against what and between whom?” asked Michael Mandelbaum, a foreign policy specialist at Johns Hopkins. The Nonaligned Movement was conceived at the Bandung summit in 1955, but there was a logic to it then.

wow you people are so bad at politics. srsly, how stupid do you have to be to not realize how terrifying the unitedsnakes/israel+nato&friends is to the rest of world

I just love the phrase “Nonaligned against what?” I’m not sure that dude understands what “non-aligned” means.

and in 2004 i was for bush

how did that happen

i was like 10 and i thought bush was the better choice because he got rid of the taliban rule in afghanistan

we were all for bush when we were 10, because Kerry looked gross

I was 14 and for Kerry, was so confused when Bush won. Didn’t understand how anybody could vote for him.

i honestly don’t understand US conservatives obsession with the free market. it’s their beloved economic liberalism that poses the greatest threat to social fabric/social order.

at least euro cons get this.

Free-market capitalism and economic liberalism are the social fabric of the United States. It is a fundamentally liberal country founded on liberal values. In Europe it’s possible to have an anti-modern conservatism based around pre-capitalist communitarianism (though note that in practice this is objectively cover for Thatcherite neoliberalism) because modern Europe is the descendant of pre-capitalist Europe, but the pre-capitalist societies of America (Native Americans) were basically exterminated by the settlers so they could erect liberal institutions in their place. Any authentic American conservatism must hence necessarily be rooted in Manifest Destiny and hegemonising liberalism/capitalism, because those are the foundations of modern American society.
